Briefly, both birds had very distinct white collars
and the main difference between the two is the supercilium. The adult bird had a
supercilium that extended just beyond and over the eye and had noticeable dark
lores while the juv. bird had a less distinct supercilum which barely went
over and beyond the eye and less distinct lores. The adult bird look more neater
in plumage than the juv. Myself and David Koffel had good views of both and had
Red-capped Plovers side by side and these were about the same size as the KP's.
Both KP's had a slightly longer and heavier black bill and longer dark legs
than the Red-capped Plovers. We also had both Lesser Sand and Double-banded
Plovers next to both KP's for comaprison and the later were much smaller birds
ofcourse.
Apparently, a few others did see both Kentish
Plovers.
