Hi everybody -
Message below (edited) originally sent to Eric Woehler by Ben Sullivan and
forwarded by request. Could anybody seeing an orange-marked Black-browed
Albatross, please notify Ben.
Cheers,
Hugo
-------------------
High numbers of black-browed albatrosses will be coloured this season, and
the request is to look out for these birds by anyone going to sea. This
Falkland Islands Conservancy project is to colour mark around 10 000
fledgling BBA from the Jason Islands and collecting at-sea sightings to
determine their dispersion pattern and also potentially their level of
fisheries associated interactions and mortality
All birds will be marked with Volcano Orange.
While we do not expect the birds to find their way to Australasian waters,
you never know. Could you please provide this information to anyone you can
think of who may in the position to help keep an eye out for any vagrants
that may turn up.
Kind Regards
Ben
