Hi all
Thanks Richard for the directions , you need to
check your tape measure though as the "pink cup" (tick) is about 1 km along the
fence. I went up today and the Kentish Plover was about 30 metres south of the
pink cup. I located it fairly easily ( nice when you get specific directions )
at 1.30 P.M. and watched it for about an hour. It was with Red capped Plover,
Double banded Plover , Lesser Sand Plover and Red necked Stints. I walked down
to the river mouth in search of the Beach Stone Curlew seen yesterday but to no
avail, Other birds around included Wedge-tailed Shearwaters, Common, Crested and
Little Tern. An Osprey and White-bellied Sea -eagle, dozens of waders on sand
banks in the distance. Another highlight was about a dozen Sanderlings. When I
returned to the "Plover" site, others had arrived , including Alan Morris and
Allan & Rob Benson. On our way back to the car we met up with Tony Palliser
on his way out. All in all a most enjoyable and sociable afternoon. On the way
home stopped to watch a pair of Brown Quail with 5 half grown chicks feeding in
the rain by the side of the road.
Cheers
