Hi Birders,

Had a short walk around the McGraths Hill STW (north-western outskirts of
Sydney) today in the rain, just to check out the current conditions for a
possible upcoming group. Obviously the water level is much higher than it
was a few weeks ago, and there is now very little exposed mud anywhere.
Nevertheless I did see one Spotless Crake in the north-eastern corner of
the reedbeds.

An Azure Kingfisher was hunting along one of the canals, perching on the
ground between flights over the water. Nothing unexpected amongst the usual
waterbirds. The Little Grassbirds were singing their hearts out, and the
cisticolas were popping up high in the reeds reminding me how beautiful
they are, even in the rain.

On Monday afternoon there were two White-winged Trillers at Wentworth Falls
Lake in the Blue Mountains, an immature and a female (or perhaps two
immatures).
