Hi Merrilyn and others.
The WTNT have been almost constant companions at my fire tower (Mt Beenak 60
KMs
east of Melbourne) since the start of January. For over half of everyday they
are flying usually quite close to the tower, making it a rather nervous time
whenever I go out of the door. Hard to count but I would estimate numbers to
be
over 100 consistently. The other night they also roosted about 200 metres from
the tower. Set my alarm before daylight arrived the next day and didn't see
them
leave. I guess it would be pretty unlikely that they would fly at night.
Hopefully Melbourne will start summer soon, and I can spend more time watching
them.
Paul.
