It is probably a good time to remind everyone about the appropriate use of this
mailing list. it is for the discussion of Australian wild birds, their habitat
and conservation. Please note the following, which are conditions of use of
this list rather than just guidelines. They appear on the birding-aus website
if ever you need a copy or wish to direct someone to them. The address is at
the end of this message.
Please remember that messages sent to the birding-aus mailing list SHOULD NOT
1. be of a purely commercial nature
2. contain offensive or inappropriate language
3. contain personal attacks - argue about the message, not the messenger
4. contain attachments of any sort
5. exceed 20Kb in size
6. include all of the original message if replying (use only what's needed
for clarity)
7. stray too far from our main topics: Australian birds, their habitat &
conservation
The above conditions of use are conistent with, but do not replace,
commonly-agreed Internet etiquette ('netiquette') such as not causing a
nuisance, not sending multiple messages with the same (or essentially the same)
content, and not misrepresenting any other Internet user.
It is important to remember that ALL messages are automatically archived at
http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/birding-aus/ thanks to the continued work and
patience of Andrew Taylor. That means if you post drivel it stays on the web
for all to see. Indefinitely. A small number of messages have been removed
over time for legal reasons, but that takes even more of Andrew's time and has
to be done manually.
Thank you, sincerely, to the 600+ users of Birding-Aus who have always followed
these principles, and who somehow tolerate the handful of users who do not.
