Hi all,
Am currently planning a birding trip in China following the IOC in
Beijing in late August 2002. Currently thinking of flying to
Beijing, via a 3-4 day stopover in Hong Kong (to visit Mai Po amongst
other spots).
Following the conference plan on spending 3-4 weeks birding, but as
yet have not developed an itinerary. Beideihe is an obvious place to
visit, although will be fairly busy tourist wise at this time of the
year. Are there other areas that people have visited/heard about
that they would suggest. Distance from Beijing is no great problem
as I am prepared to travel and will probably leave from a city other
than Beijing, flying via Hong Kong on the return journey.
With regard to fieldguides, has anyone had experience in this area?
I understand that at the present time the MacKinnon guide to Birds of
China 2000 is the only 'comprehensive' guide, but are there other
guides that people would suggest instead of or as well as eg. Birds
of South-East Asia (Robson), Birds of Hong Kong and South China
(Viney, Phillips, Lam)??
Any help/hints/information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Brent
