Hi,
Location : Anzac Park, Townsville.
22/112001
While sitting in the park having lunch I was witness to a fight between
two male Common Koels, KC, which I believe would have been over
territory. During the fight which was occurring near the top of a palm
tree, about 3 metres up, the birds locked together and fell to the
ground amongst some bushes. Immediately a group of 6 or 7 Yellow faced
Honeyeaters landed around the bushes and proceeded to jockey for the
best position to see the fighting birds, sometimes vocalizing their
interest.
This is the most bazaar behaviour I have seen. What interest would the
YFH have in the two CK fighting? Has anyone seen anything similar and
can explain the behaviour?
Thanks,
Graham
