Marnix The NPWS Atlas has the western-most YTSW record in the Shoalhaven Gorge, about 15km upstream of the Tallowa Dam, and about 23km SSW of Bundanoon (very rough measurements taken off some GIS layers). There are several records along the south coast. There's a record near Durras, several records on Mt Dromedary near Tilba and nine records near Bega. I guess any spot with some good wet forest is a chance. Cheers Anthony
On Sunday I had good views of a pair of Yellow-throated Scrubwrens in a rainforest gully of plumwood and coachwood in Morton National Park near Bundanoon. Upon returning home to check my guides and books I read in the Handlist of Birds of NSW (Morris & McGill) that this species may be found (marked with ?) as far west as Bundanoon (and south to Bega). Slater mentions they are found as far south as Bega. Pizzey & Knight I think mentions that they are only found as far south as the Illawarra region? Are Yellow-throated Scrubwrens found regularly in the Bundanoon area or further south along the South Coast? A confiding Wonga Pigeon along one track was also of interest.
