Graham,
Despite what you might think or
say I have no desire to harm Birds Australia I have been a member for 20 years
have supported all of the fundraising activities in recent times and have
privately purchased and await eagerly HANZAB as it is released. It is
also years since I was a member of the management committee maybe you
are not aware of that.
I have no particular vested
interest in Rotamah per se but am seriously concerned when such decisions that
effect a resourse and facility in this Region are made without even consulting
the people who have been serving the organization by funding and managing what
for many is the gateway to an appreciation of birds and ornithology, or
to investigate whether options do exist.
For birds
(HO) to have dealt with the local ranger in trying to renegotiate a lease when
letters of support for the continuation of the Observatory from Minister Garbutt
are already in the hands of the CoM and the CEO of Birds one can only question
the seriousness with which the organization values these
operations.
No significant business
decisions have been made by the Observatory CoM since the administration
control was centralized about three years ago and the "debt" owed by
Rotamah to BA while small compared with past situations at BGBO and if
the figures quoted by BA CEO are correct about one third of Broome's.
The major part of Rotamah's so called debt has been incurred by decisions
made then changed in relation to a Legal Proceeding instituted, run and settled
by BA HO.
I am interested that you
have served on the council for seven years, a fine committment, I understood
that the constitution allowed only six, as that was the grounds on which I, Lee
Duclos, Joan Vincent and Caroline Hamilton were "retired" from the CoM of
Rotamah to bring us into line with the rules for Council Members. Has that now
been changed.
they certainly weren't
generated by anyone to do with RIBO and I'm assuming the assertions are
untrue.
