Hi birders

Firstly - thanks to several Birding-Aus members who heeded my plaintive cry
and set me straight on where to look for the Painted Snipe. I was there
about an hour ago, and saw the bird sitting a metre out from the veg in full
sunlight. It is a gorgeous creature, and offered good views by 10X
binoculars, and stunning full-frame by 40x scope. I found it easy to see
from the corner nearest the playground - and some kind soul who's name I
neglected to ask pointed it out. I had been about to look from further
away.

Birding generally good around there - list below.

(PS: Banyule for those who came in late is in Melbourne - just off Lower
Heidelberg Road on Banyule Road. The consensus seems to be that's an
immature female Painted Snipe.)
