Hi Colin,

I don't know the area, as I live out of Brisbane; but it's heartening to see someone with ideas coming forward. Are you a member of the Queensland Wader Study Group? If not, please do join us and get involved in the effort to conserve habitat. We in the QWSG are all stretched to breaking point trying to cover more than we as a group can manage. Another job we don't need; but another brain and pair of hands we would welcome.

It seems a shame as it would be so easy to conserve the area and it
has a real 'potential' feel. I always expect the unexpected and was very
pleased a few weeks ago to see 2 pairs of Red kneed Dotterels and, overhead,
a white breasted Sea Eagle. There is almost always a few Sharp Tailed Sands
and a solitary Marsh sand. I could just imagine some hedges/natural fences
being built along the edges of the ponds and, with a bit of care, a really
excellent birding spot created - providing conditions for several sp to
breed and somewhere for migrants to overnight or shelter.  

Anyone any suggestions/info/experience of this spot?
