Jan is too modest about the Friends of Merri Creek.

See today's Age for the story about how they worked with the
Victorian Trades Hall - who instituted union bans - to
protect habitat of our fast-disappearing Growling Grass Frog
(close relative of the Green-and-Golden Bell Frog) and ended
up with an electricity company paying $100,000 for helping
their habitat (and even more important, I reckon, native
grasslands).

(The power station is being built because Australian
governments are just going with the flow in relation to our
largest increase in greenhouse gas production - air
conditioners. A small one takes the same energy as about 40
electric fans!).
