Re Laurie's suggestion re altimeters as a Navaid: my experience is that changes in atmospheric pressure can make altimeter readings unreliable to say the least, unless the weather is stable, the journey relatively brief, and you have a good reference point or some kind of access to standard atmospheric pressure readings. - ?? Also, what are rogaines?
