Vicky Powys asked: > Do other people have more accuracy with their GPS units at > shorter ranges? Mp GPS is accurate to 50 metres (possible better than this now that selective availability has been turned off, but I have dropped it a few times). So if you take a reading at your car, this is within 50 metres. You then go walking and take another reading. The second reading can also be 50 metres off, but not the same error. If you are a long way from the start, then this error is fairly small and it isn't really a problem. But when you get very close, then this error can be very large. Hence I leave my car in the open where I can see it from 100 metres or so. The newest GPS is supposedly accurate to 5 metres, and so it should be much more accurate with bearing and distance to target.
