G'day all
This
is the first time i have written to birdline but now i thick i have
something
exciting to write about.Having a weeks holiday i
thought i would spend an afternoon
fishing on Lake Cairn Curran close to home. But with
no fish biting and the Whiskered
Terns and Fairy Martins swooping over the water i
thought i would do some bird-
watching instead.
With Clamarous Reed Warblers calling in the
reeds,Black-tailed Native hens forage-
ing along the edge,a pair of Australian Shelducks
with chicks and large flocks of
Hoary-headed Grebes,Eurasian Coots and Cormorants i
had a great three hours.
Thirty nine birds in all and three new sightings
for my list.
So if anyones in the Newstead area over the next
few day take a visit to the Joyces
Creek end of Lake Cairn Curran between the road
bridge and the old railway bridge
and spend a couple of rewarding hours.
