Hi All, Thousands of birdwatchers of whole Europe are descending on Lincolnshire after an American Green Heron ( Butorides striatus ) was seen on British soil for only the third time in more than 110 years. The first sighting was in Cornwall in 1890 and then in North of Humberside in 1982. Experts have no Idea how and why the bird ended up in Messingham. (Sourse: Mx, Oct 1, 2001) For those ones that never saw one, a can be found on the link below: http://www.birdventures.com/images/Gheron.jpg http://www.duneland.com/birding/photo/GHeron.htm (with general Information) That's Just serves to remind us, never say never! anywhere anytime, keep an eye on the sky. Kind Regards Alex Farias Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
