"BIRDS FOR THE FUTURE"
A symposium on bird habitat conservation in NSW and the ACT
As you read this, Iolo Williams, international ornithologist and acclaimed
presenter of the BBC series "Birdman" and Iolo's Wild Wales, (winner BAFTA
award), together with a BBC-Wales film crew, are filming a 50 minute BBC
documentary on bird habitat and conservation issues in NSW and ACT.
Iolo arrived in Sydney on Monday. Many of you may have heard him interviewed
on ABC 702 yesterday morning. He is one of the guest speakers at "BIRDS
FOR THE FUTURE" - a symposium on bird habitat conservation in NSW and ACT.

The main aim of this symposium is to bring together representatives of a
wide range of groups involved in or affected by habitat conservation e.g.
farmers, government agencies, media, state foresters etc. Identification of
the most critical areas of conservation will take place during the morning
session, with positive "can do" methods of addressing these issues being
discussed in an Open Forum during the afternoon.
Chaired by Birds Australia President Prof Henry Nix, the program features:
- Leading Australian speakers: Dean Graetz, David Baker-Gabb, Andrew Fisher,
Stuart Blanch and Nicholas Carlile
- An Open Forum moderated by Bernie Hobbs, ABC Science reporter, with
multidisciplinary expert panel: Stephen Garnett, Penny Olsen, John Dengate,
Judie Peet and Ian Davidson
