I sent a message a few weeks ago about a private trip that I am organising
to the Abrolhos Islands in November for a friend from Queensland. The
same routine as Phil Hansbro is organising next week.

I have had to change the date to Tuesday 20th November. The boat leaves
Geraldton at 6am and returns about 5:30pm. We will be landing on Pelsaert
Island for about 4 hours or so to observe Lesser Noddy, etc.

The cost is $165 per person for the day. I think that this includes lunch
and soft drinks but I will need to check. You don't have to go ashore for
the whole period. There will be opportunities for snorkelling and
possibly fishing if you want. I need a minimum of 6 people which I am
almost certain that I now have. If we don't get 6 people the trip will
still go ahead and my friend and I will make up the difference.

Apart from Lesser Noddy breeding we hope to see breeding Common Noddy,
Bridled Tern, Sooty Tern. Also we should see Wedge-tailed Shearwater,
Roseate Tern, Fairy Tern, Pacific Gull, possible Spotless Crake, possible
Little Shearwater, possible White-faced Storm-Petrel, possible Red-tailed
Tropicbird, possible Australian Sea-lion plus a variety of waders, Osprey,
White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Eastern Reef Egret, King Skink, etc.

We will be staying at Goodwood Lodge (08 9921 5666) for the two nights
(not yet booked).

I will be driving up from Perth on the Monday, and then after the trip
going up to Carnarvon for two nights, then back to Kalbarri for one night
before heading down to the south west for 5 nights. You are welcome to
tag along, but you will need another vehicle.

Our hit list is very specialised in Rufous (Western) Fieldwren, Slender-
billed (Samphire) Thornbill, vagrant gulls, vagrant waders, Masked Owl,
Numbat, Western (Mallee) Whipbird, Western Whipbird, Noisy Scrubbird,
Australasian Bittern but we should see most of the south west and Gascoyne
specialties.

All the best
Frank
