Ive been off the air for some time, so apologies if this has already been reported - today at Fishermans Island there were a couple of hundred red necked avocets. Never common in Brisbane, these birds have been there for a little while now, today my first chance to see them. They are close to the road, so a good view is assured. If any Brisbane birders want to see them - drive to the absolute end of the port authority road at fishermans island, turn right, and then you will see the pond on your left as the road bends right again.
worth the drive to see these superb little birds.

cheers.

David Taylor

PS lots of Chestnut Teals with them
