Bill,

Did you get any replies.

I lived in Brisbane about 15 years ago (Was on the QOS council for several
years) at the time there were blue winged Kookaburra in the area. Do you
know how long these have been there?


With regards to loss of vitality through inbreeding there are good examples
of this in populations from isolated islands and in birdkeeping. What
appears to happen is that through a series of population growths and crashes
genes that are responsible for loss of vitality are breed out of the
population. Providing some of the population survives through the population
crash.
