Dear Birding-aussers
Just to let you know that I am retiring from work on Friday 24th
August, and will be off the birding-aus line and off this email
address from that day on. Am planning a 2 month trip to Darwin and
WA, with a period at Broome taking part in the Wader Study event in
October.
Will no doubt in the fullness of time establish another email address
and subscribe again to birding-aus, which I have found most
informative, despite the few vituperative exchanges that have taken
place over the years. Like TV, there is an off switch, or at least a
trash switch on the computer to deal with those.
So, thank you to all the organisers of birding-aus, who do a great
job, which keeps ozzie birders in touch and makes friends around
this vast cont inent and the rest of the world too.
As Hon. Secretary of the NSW Field Ornithologists Club (until 5th
Sept as also retiring from that post) I've met many interesting
visitors to this country and greatly enjoyed showing them some of our
Australian birds, which as an immigrant from the UK, still amaze me
with their variety, tameness and beauty.
If anyone needs to contact me before I return to birding-aus with an
email address, my home number is 02 9698 7263.
And thanks to all who have made birding-aus so interesting with their
reports and comments.
