An EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) must by law be done for new
developments, employing professional biologists, and though often flawed and
biased toward developers (who pay for the EIS,) the EIS should be accessible at
Council Offices if you have time to go down, but telephone first.</FONT></DIV>

You can bring to the council's attention anything they have overlooked. Put it
in writing, with copies to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),and
even your local State and Federal M.P. if the matter is serious
enough, as well as the State Minister for the Environment if things are REALLY
bad, but always be quite sure you have the facts absolutely right or you
lose all credibility. Photos with the letters are very effective, eg "this
grove of trees" is going down, "this is the nesting-hole of a squirrel-glider"
etc.</FONT></DIV>

Succinct letters to the local paper also help</FONT></DIV>
