And to others they become so common.  I had seen few Pacific Herons until last spring when, here in Central Vic, around Kyneton, we had many, many sightings around wet paddocks.  It was a wet Spring and many paddocks were water-logged for quite some time.
 
We had one on our own property for several days and I used to drive past one paddock each morning that had about ten birds in it for about a week or more.  They became almost as common as the White-faced Heron.
