Song Thrushes seem nowhere to be as abundant as Blackbirds, but they are
widespread
and quite abundant nonetheless. Everywhere I've lived in Melbourne and Geelong
has had resident Song Thrushes. Where I am now (Ascot Vale - inner NW
Melbourne)
is a noisy place in the morning at this time of year, with about 3-4 singing
Song Thrushes close by. One starts about an hour before first light!

I have seen a Song Thrush as far west as Cumberland River - about 10-15km west
of Lorne on the Otway coast. They may yet explode into being a bush bird as
they have done in New Zealand.

Cheers -- Lawrie
