This morning we were quietly sitting at the table having
morning tea when I glanced up at some movement just outside the
window.
Two Blue Bonnet Parrots were investigating our bird
bath and some hollows in the nearby trees. They stayed for about 5 minutes
before flying off. This is a new record for our 5 acre block on the outskirts of
Murray Bridge (80 km SE of Adelaide). Blue Bonnets are widespread but nowhere
common in the mallee country to the east of here.
Just before they left I had good views of the Striped Honeyeater
which we had heard around our house in recent days. This area is about
the SW extent of their range.
