G'day Jon,
Twas the early morning of thee atlas,
Not a sound could be heard,
Save that of indoor birds,
Snoring, that's not absurd,
Quietly, I tiptoed out,
Not wanting to make a sound,
Locking my front behind me,
Cracking the icy ground,
I got to my mailbox,
When a voice from my shoulder did say,
She said, "Dad why are we doing this?
Shouldn't we wait? till the sun warms the day?
Cursing, my loving magpie,
I turned and put her back in,
Told her, to get hat and gloves,
Before the big bird-day could begin,
As I waved her goodbye,
I got a peck upon my cheek,
Headed for the Hastings marina,
To the small colony, that I did seek,
Must have got there a tad early,
For then I heard those immortal words,
Nick off you silly birdo,
Were, late rising, swimming birds,
So I pottered off disgruntled,
At what they had said to me,
Wandered the Hastings foreshore,
Sad at the lack of my loving Hilary,
Onward, I went a plodding,
Passed that man made old pier light,
Peered at the all-night fishing birds,
Wondering? "Is this really, quite right?,
Got to my starting point,
Feeling my numbing frozen toes,
Looked around at all my loves,
Knowing this is the way it goes,
Foggy, foggy morning,
The olde Sun seemed late to rise,
Had the strangest of pomie feeling,
73 species, on my path, they lies,
Thought about the mankind kindest,
About what many on this list do for me,
Sadly, Russell won't let me advertise,
So I'll say, "DEFRIES" ers are for Pen Gwynnie :^D
. . . . . . . . . .
I must have had some weet-a-bix this am eh :-]
hehehe back later after doing a mail-dump at the post
office. I wonder if Bill Jolly is from my next of the
woods by birth? lovely photo's Jon and many thanks for
them mate.
