WE've had a male RR hanging aroung our place (actually feeding and fluttering busily, and being incidentally very decorative) for the past week or so. I expect them here (ie inner suburban Turner) as passage migrants, but no later than earlyish May. It does seem that this one is intending to stay for the winter. This is not unheard of, but usually only in a mild winter, and the past several nights have been -3, ie about 4 BELOW average. cheers Ian -- Ian Fraser & Margaret McJannett, Environment Tours; Vertego Environmental Wordsmithing GPO Box 3268, Canberra, ACT 2601 ph: 02 6249 1560 fax: 02 6247 3227 --- Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
