G'day all

I thought someone else would have posted a message about the camp by now...

About 20 of us either camped at Pritchards Landing in the Lower Glenelg N.P. or
stayed in the motel in Nelson (far sw Victoria). We visited a few locations in
the N.P. (Inkpot, Moleside, around Pritchards), a spot in the adjacent
Cobobboonee state forest for Powerful Owls, Lake Mombeong and Discovery Bay,
Nelson estuary and Picaninnie Ponds in South Australia.

We came from various parts of Melbourne, Geelong, Peterborough, Warrnambool,
Heywood and Hamilton.

The weather was not great with annoying drizzle for much of the time but it
mostly rained during the night and really only put us off on the Monday morning.
Can't complain - the last couple of QB weekend camps were washed out.

Birds: 104 species. Best (in my opinion) were Beautiful Firetail, Powerful Owl,
Azure Kingfisher, Olive Whistler and the excellent range of ducks, herons,
grebes seen.

Downside: the behaviour of our neighbours in the adjacent campsites.

This was my first Birds Australia camp and I hope to go on many more - next will
probably be the Little Desert camp later in the year.

See you there

Cheers

Steve
