I'm glad you saw such nice birds, Chris - all typical of areas of the Murray-Mallee that I'm familiar with EXCEPT White-browed Babbler. In the drier areas (above the floodplain) its Chestnut-crowned Babblers that are usually commonest. They too have the pale brow. The chestnut crown isn't always easy to see, unless the sun is shining on the bird's head. The best distinguishing feature is the buff wing bar on the Chestnut-crowned.
