I spent a very pleasant weekend on a backwater of the Murray between Punyelroo and the Marne River Valley. I was cycling along a dirt road when a pair of Red-capped Robins landed in the middle of the road in front of me. While I stopped to admire them, I noticed the sounds of other small birds in the vegetation on the sides of the road. There were Yellow-rumped Pardalotes (lots), Southern Whitface and White-fronted Chats as well as more Red-capped Robins. A very enjoyable rest stop. Just a bit further on, a family of White-browed Babblers entertained me with their games. My ride took a lot longer than intended !
