G'day all.
I was thrilled to see at least one pair of Hooded Robins 2 weeks ago in
mallee country, 10 km south of Morgan, SA. One pair was cavorting in a
vacant Wedgetail nest. The land is one of several large subdivisions
(ex-soldier settlement blocks) that were combined into uncleared
sheep-grazing country and are now being sold off individually. We were
there as consultants to the young couple who have bought the block in
question. They had earlier sought our advice re the best block to choose
for the purpose of wildlife conservation (NICE people!) so I was
particularly chuffed to have our judgement demonstrated so dramatically.
Then, yesterday, I had the pleasure of seeing 2 pairs of Red-capped
Robins on Fiddlers Green. They are seasonal visitors here so seeing them
is always lovely.
Cheers
Anne Green
