Referring to Edwin's nocturnal Masked Lapwings, here in southern Victoria I often hear Lapwings flying over at night but do not have them on my home bird list.
They usually fly over at the same time(11pm) so I must be under a nocturnal flight path. I have never seen them during the day.
I see many Kelp Gulls flying over (identified by their call) in recent times and am concerned about their possible impact on our endemic Pacific Gull. Back in the 70's and 80's Kelps were a rare occurrence but are a common sight now on the south eastern shores of Port Phillip Bay.
