G'day Lorraine, and all,

I think, in the case of lighting of piers and jetty's
it creates a case of increased bird opportunity for
fishing for those birds that do fish. Whether this is
good or bad? but then perhaps it's a way of allowing
the birds to get some food at least? as we humans race
towards depleting the oceans of fish stocks?

It's surprising just how many wild birds eat fish?
some birds only eat a variety of fish. Never know,
perhaps one day we might get fish farms just for
feeding wild birds ..... now there's an idea for BA
eh?

I just wish Edwin's lapwings were a bit quieter at
night, :^D, they disturb my Ozbeeb viewing habits, but
dare I say that?

Hello Birding-Ausers,

Edwin raised an issue I have been thinking about for a
while: is night lighting of urban parks and foreshore
pathways, on balance, a good or bad thing for birds,
or of neutral impact on their lives? Lighting seems to
be
of two types: aesthetic (floodlit trees and pea light
strands), and safety lighting for walkers and joggers.
