Hi John and Birding-aussers, It's interesting to hear that the Short-tailed Grasswrens did not respond to the tape, despite the dodgy time of year you were looking for them. The vocalizations of Short-taileds are different to Striateds and this is one of the major reasons (amongst others) that the birds have been recognised as a full species. I have heard of other birders who have looked for Short-taileds using the BOCA tape recording of Striateds and drawn a blank, even when they knew that Short-taileds were present. Cheers David Harper Adelaide Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
