Over atleast the last few years, have had visits in the park opposite our place by a group of Masked Lapwings. They seem to come about an hour or so before dark and somehow dissapear by the next morning, though they may stay throughout the day if it has rained heavily overnight. Our park is quite open spaced and is lighted at night. I presume that they are after some night flying insects? Could this be the reason or are their others?
