Hi Russell and everybody,
There is such a thing as beginners' luck..
At Wyperfeld NP, back in September 1976, when the lakes in Wyperfeld
were full, I maintain I saw a Grey Falcon flying over some open country.
One low pass and then high overhead.
No-one has ever believed me! But it was definitely falcon-shaped, with
pointed, angled wings, flew like a falcon, and its back was pale smoky
grey, pale beneath.
I can't think what else it could have been - and at that time I was
already quite familiar with Hobbies, Nankeen Kestrels, Black-shouldered
Kites, Peregrines and Brown Goshawks, and I had once seen a Black
Falcon. I was in fact quite a raptor nut.
What do the experts think about that one?
