Well, it's not just you Steve.  Many others feel that John is a rambling old
fool.

I however don't.  

I don't think he's pointless - everything he does has a point.  If it's not
penguins or pelicans, it's TT lines.  

I don't think he's irrelevant - it's all to do with birds, even if it's Dawn
soap or (once again) TT lines, there's birds at the heart of it.

I'm not sure about the incomprehensible part - well, he is a little obscure
now and again...

I don't think he's annoying, either.  If you do you can just quietly make a
rule for your email browser to filter him out, and don't tell anyone about
it.  It's what I do for "A Certain Contributor Who Shall Remain Nameless",
but I always read John's postings.

John is an amusing, off-beat, serious (but not overly so), committed,
friendly birder.  He for sure knows a hell of a lot more about all this than
I do.  He's not offensive, not rude, not dull or arcane.  He has as much
right to this forum as anyone.

Go on, flame me.
