Birders visiting the Blue Mountains beware!

Over the past few weeks there has been a fair bit of news of a panther or big feral cat on the loose around the lower Blue Mountains (between Springwood and Penrith). One can imagine what damage this big thing can or has done to our wildlife including our birds (let alone possibly humans if it is a panther). Just to share something of my own experience, whilst birding around Doonside (in western Sydney), I was surprised to see 2 very large black feral cats chasing each other in front of me. These 2 were about twice the size of a normal feral cat. Has any body had similar experiences?
