Hi all, just returned from a 7 day trip to Mt Hotham/ Mt Buffalo area
Vic,great weather, scenery and autumn leaves, but short on birds,97species
for the area,in small numbers. It never fails to amaze me how you can miss
common species on a trip.
We never saw a B/F/C/Shrike from leaving Syd to our return 7 days later,
also saw lots of cattle but no cattle egrets.Of interest was the Yellow
-faced H E down there have a different dialect to the Sydney ones. I have
often wondered if the Y/F/H/E that dont migrate from the Syd area could be
ones migrating from farther south and spending there winter here. After
hearing the dialect of those in the high country I dont believe so.
No M/Ds OR K/F/Cs was a pleasant change.

good birding
keith
