TWITCHATHON 2000
Within NSW and the ACT, 27 teams raised $9308.32 for this event! Fantastic!
The great thing about running a Twitchathon is to observe what tremendous
support birdwatchers and friends of birdwatchers give to this fun event and
to Birds Australia. The surprise in the 2000 event was the number of
champagne teams entering the event and the enthusiasm shared among all
teams to not only raise money for Newhaven land purchase, but also to have
great fun doing it!
Keith Brandwood, well known member of Cumberland Bird Observers Club and
Birds Australia, again won the national fundraising prize, this year
raising $2315 and he will be presented with the Emu Tours perpetual
fundraising trophy at the mext meeting of CBOC and a volume of the Handbook
of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds. The secret admirer who
donated the champagne for the champagne race prize was, in fact, the Wine
Society and our sincere thanks go to the Society for such great champagne
and support given to the event.
Thank you very much birdwatchers and clubs for all your support!
