 Hullo birders,

     Finally managed a few hours at home in Mulgoa Valley and on Mayfair
Road( toward the Blue Mountains National Park) on the weekend.
      Of particular interest ;
                                       A WHITE-PHASE and GREY-PHASE GREY
 GOSHAWK duo, the white-phase squawking . Female ROSE ROBIN, Both
GOLDEN and RUFOUS WHISTLERS, LEADEN FLYCATCHER (male), WHITE-CHEEKED
HONEYEATER, and WHITE-THROATED GERYGONES still about and vocal as was
the resident   AZURE KINGFISHER.
                                       Eastern Spinebills pigging out on
Lantana flowers. The Lantana here is reaching plague proportions on land
adjacent to Mayfair Rd, overflowing onto the roadside, suffocating the
native undergrowth. Penrith Council won't declare it a noxious weed because
they would then be obliged to get rid of it on Council land which would cost
money.
                                      Variegated and Superb Fairy-wrens,
White-browed Scrub-wren, Eastern Whipbirds and Finches use the "edge"
Lantana, mainly for shelter, but it is sterile in terms of birds a few
metres in.
