As I emptied my Outbox only a few minutes ago, sending off my plea to entomologists for some edification about cicada noises, so there in my Inbox a couple of seconds later was that very informative piece on the topic by Paul Grimshaw, forwarded by Roy Sonnenburg. Many thanks Roy for posting Paul's observations, and of course to Paul too for helping to ease some of my frustration as, albeit only for a few days, I watch our daily bird list go down and hear our daily cicada list go up!
