Hi Frank, Water Hyacinth was the floating weed choking Lake Victoria but controlled by a specific weevil. The researchers responsible for introducing the weevil were Australians, the weevil from South America. I have a vague feeling that it may have been tried in Australia, Water Hyacinth is a problem in Qld. Perhaps Salvinia has its own specific weevil?
