My thanks to all those who weighed in with advice on the well chewed pine cones in the Gailes Rly Stn car-park.  Consensus of opinion favours Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos, with Long-billed Corellas a possibility, having been seen in that neighbourhood.  (No-one has advised actually seeing birds feeding in those particular trees.)

I have seen Y-t B-Cs feeding in Pinus plantations, but hadn't regarded them as suburban birds, hence my query, for these trees are not very high, are right beside one of the three busiest roads leaving Brisbane, and conurbation has virtually connected Ipswich and Brisbane along it.  But now that I think about it,  White-tailed B-Cs, another Calyptorhynchus species, are certainly suburban birds in Perth.

Cheers

Syd
