Hi Paul,

Thanks for letting me use my brand new HANZAB 5, you have allowed me to christen it to answer a question.

Pitta versicolor Noisy Pitta

Other English Names:

Blue-winged, Buff-breasted or Lesser Pitta, Painted Thrush, Anvil-bird, Dragoon, Dragoonbird

That's all they list, I hope this helps,

Stuart

hello Aus-birders

I recently received the following:

' I am curious as to whether the bird known as the Noisy Pitta is
commonly known by any other names, such as "Bobtail." Most sources I have
looked at do not refer to it as a bobtail, however, one says one of its
common names is bobtail.  Is this a regional thing? Or maybe a slang or
colloquial reference to the bird? '

I'm not aware that 'bobtail' is/was used for Noisy Pitta.
Is anyone familiar with the name?

cheers
Paul
