hello Aus-birders I recently received the following: ' I am curious as to whether the bird known as the Noisy Pitta is commonly known by any other names, such as "Bobtail." Most sources I have looked at do not refer to it as a bobtail, however, one says one of its common names is bobtail. Is this a regional thing? Or maybe a slang or colloquial reference to the bird? ' I'm not aware that 'bobtail' is/was used for Noisy Pitta. Is anyone familiar with the name? cheers Paul Paul Andrew Curator Taronga Zoo PO Box 20 Sydney 2088 tel:612-99784724 fax: 612-99784613 Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
