Birders, Forgot to mention before, It was amazing to witness an account of "evasive freezing" exhibited by the waders at the Woodvale Ponds in the presence of an Australian Hobby. The Hobby circled the ponds for some time, during which most of the small waders (i.e. Sharpies, Marshies, Stints, Dotterels, Plovers and even the young Avocets) crouched low to the ground/water until danger passed. Common behaviour? Cheers, Chris Tzaros Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
