Dear Anne and all at BirdingAus
HANZAB has a few records of Mulga Parrots eating unidentified insect larvae but
no snails. The sources for the insect observations were:
White, S.A.1913. Emu 13: 16-32. [Reports stomach contents, of galls and
larvae, so possible that larvae were ingested incidentally.]
Saunders, D., & J. Ingram. 1995. Birds of Southwestern Australia. Surrey
Beatty, Sydney. [Just states food as, among other things, 'grubs'.]
Hall, B.P. (Ed.) 1974. Birds of the Harold Hall Australian Expeditions,
1962-70. British Museum Natural History, London. ['once, some small
greenish-yellow grubs', probably from stomach contents.]
Further to Ralph Reid's reply, Barker & Vestjen's Food of Australian Birds is
always (or should always be) summarized in the HANZAB Food texts.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Peter
