Koel sendoff

Yesterday morning I observed the resident common koels, male and female,
perched on a TV antenna of a house I was walking past. The male was
calling. Also, they were being harrassed by a persistent willy wagtail who,
after only about a minute, chased them off into a tree across the road. Not
content with that, WW kept on harrassing them, until about 40 seconds later
they flew again and disappeared behind houses with WW in hot pursuit.

Apparently aggressiveness does not equate to size.

As far as I am concerned, he can chase them all the way to Melbourne,
particularly so if the male is the one that sets up shop in the adjacent
reserve about 2.30 am nightly and calls on and on and on and on and on and
on and on ...

Regards

Ralph Reid
